Competence 6

I am an English-speaking student, with minor understanding of Spanish. Lecture was presented in Spanish, with translation into English, during the majority of classes taken during the tenure of my study at University of Montemorelos. I also learned to communicate using common words such as: “Buenos días” meaning “Good Morning”; ¿Cómo estás? Meaning “How are you?” I also wrote email communication in English and translated into Spanish, which I send to my professors or advisor. Part of the requirement for admission to this doctoral degree was to analyze a peer reviewed article in English, and have it translated into Spanish. I also attended the University church on campus, and listened to all teachings, singing, preaching and other presentations in Spanish. I had a fair grasp of Spanish, having completed to the fifth grade in high school, and passing this subject in the O level standardized British exam. One of my future goal after completing my doctoral study, is to be fully immersed in a refresher course in Spanish, in order to have a better command of this language.
